Last Saturday, November 5th, the Men’s Squash team hosted Bard College and Brandeis University to participate in a round robin tournament. The Huskies lost to Bard College 6-3 but bounced back to defeat Brandeis University 8-1.

Northeastern last played Bard in the first round of nationals last year, where they won 7-2 (going on to win the entire tournament). This year, with a very young team, we knew that this match was going to be a challenge. The ladder from positions 4 to 9 struggled against the deeper Bard team. Karan Raja (5) and Thomas Catenacci (8) were both able to take a game off their opponents, while the other positions suffered tough losses in straight sets. Meanwhile, Northeastern’s top 3 players: Karan Kishorepuria, Evan Jacobson, and Viraj Shah were all able to win their matches. We look forward to playing them later in the season after we have a few more matches under our belt.

The next match was against Brandeis University, and the Huskies were able to get a great 8-1 win! It always feels good to bounce back after a tough loss. The only loss was because our number 9, Everett Tu injured his back and was unable to play. Feel better Everett!! We hope to have him back on court very soon. In the other matches, the huskies only dropped a single game. We’re heading into practice this week on a high note, ready to prepare for our next match against Colby College (11/19).
