about Northeastern Squash

We are a student-run club organization comprised of a men’s team and a women’s team, both of which compete against varsity teams in the New England area. Both teams are consistently a top 10 club team in the nation.

Our Mission & Vision

As a student organization, our goal is to bring members of the Northeastern community together around the sport of squash. We foster a family of players that compete and play at a high collegiate level and grow together. Every year, we push each other to climb the national rankings and vie to become the #1 club team in the nation for both programs.

In the long term, we hope to grow to the point of becoming a varsity sport. We always want this team to be student run since we believe it creates a more harmonious locker room environment, and adding the varsity status would allow us to travel farther and more frequently to challenge ourselves and other programs to develop into a nationally renowned organization.

Philosophy & Style of Play

We practice two hours a day four nights a week as a team, working on drills, technique, and matchplay with each other. We also encourage (and expect) players who want to make the travel team to take several hours a week to practice on their own at the facility and gym to work on new skills we learn during practice.

Why Join NU Squash?

As a member of the team, you will get invaluable experience practicing and competing against other teams and join a group of committed and driven individuals who share the same values as you. You will meet friends you will connect with for the rest of your life.

Your teammates will be there to help you navigate the collegiate life and guide your journey from freshman year to graduation. After graduation, you will join an alumni network of Northeastern Squash team and family members who can connect you to any industry in the country.

Our World Class Facilities

The Squashbusters Center at Northeastern University is a brand new, state of the art facility housing 8 professional level squash courts on the second floor. The building also has a full gym, stationary bikes and ergs, locker rooms, saunas, and a yoga studio. The center is the venue for all home matches and practices, with plenty of room for spectators to view the courts.

The Carter Fields are a new park plaza built by Northeastern University and stationed next door to the Squashbusters Center. Here, we utilize the turf fields for conditioning and outdoor workouts, which are particularly useful during the ongoing pandemic. We are also able to play tennis in the off season and use the space to get together for friendly games of touch football.

Club History

Northeastern’s Squash program was founded in the fall of 2004 by students as a club team. The Huskies compete as a well known Northeast team in the College Squash Association (CSA) against other club and varsity programs around the United States. Our regular season match-ups typically consist of teams in the New England area, extending out further as the season progresses.

The Huskies look forward to their continued success and growing fan base in the coming years as squash gets more and more exposure around campus. The Northeastern Round Robin Tournament was established in 2017, with teams traveling from all around the country to compete against the Huskies as well as local Boston teams like BU and BC. The tournament continues to grow every year with an active waitlist, giving rise to our program around Northeastern and in Boston.
