Thanks to everyone who joined us last Saturday night, November 22nd 2016, at the inaugural Northeastern Men’s Squash Alumni Event! This was an effort spearheaded by our President, Connor Rouan, and Head Coach, Chris Santoro, so a big shout out to them for making this event possible. This was the first time we have ever brought together 24 current and past members of the squash community. To those who unfortunately could not make it, here’s a recap of the night!

Our Head Coach, Chris Santoro, kicked off the night with a gracious speech welcoming alumni, parents, and other members of the Northeastern squash community. After socializing over food and drink, it was game time. Alumni were given the chance to play current team members to win Chipotle gift cards, so the stakes were extremely high. Games were played to 15, and the two players with the best records were awarded.

There were many hard fought battles, but in the end, Keith Sproat (NEU ’13) won second place and Stan Berenshtein (NEU ’14) took the first place spot in the tournament! Congrats to both of them! As champions, it was only natural that Keith and Stan give impromptu speeches. Both players reflected about their time playing for the huskies, and talked about their vision for the team in the future. Our goal in organizing this event was to reach out to the greater community and keep everyone involved with the program after graduation. We all share the same hope, which is to see the program continue to thrive, and in the future, for it to become a varsity sport at Northeastern.

Once again, a big thanks to everyone who came and enjoyed last night with the team. This was an awesome way to get pumped for the upcoming season, and for those in the area, our first game is this Friday, October 28th at home against Babson. Also, a huge thanks to the Office of Alumni Relations for their help in organizing the event and to Rebecca’s for catering. Check out some of the pictures below, and we hope to see everyone again soon!
