This past weekend was a busy and challenging one for the men’s squash team, playing five matches over a three day period.
Starting on Friday, the first two matches were against MIT and Boston College. Unfortunately, the Huskies lost 9-0 to MIT, though Karan Kishorepuria took his match to 4 sets. Then, the Huskies played Boston college in a rematch from earlier this season but lost 8-1, with only senior and captain Evan Jacobson pulling out the win. It was a tough night, but there were two more matches the next day to prepare for.
Early the next day, at 10am, Northeastern played Northwestern. Evan once again was able to pull out a 3-0 win, but Northwestern prevailed 8-1. The last match of the day was against Haverford, and resulted in a 9-0 loss.
The next day, the team had to get up bright and early for the last match of the weekend, traveling to Amherst to play against Amherst College. It was the most difficult match of the weekend and with a limited roster of only 7 players, the Husky men lost 7-0.
This has been a tough series of matches for the team, but the most important thing about playing better teams is to get into form for Nationals in the beginning of February. In a couple weeks we will be playing in the Vassar Round Robin in Pennsylvania, and we’ll be training to have a better showing at that tournament.
