The Northeastern Men’s Squash team had a very successful weekend January 22-23, posting an outstanding performance in the round robin held at MIT. The Men went 3-1, falling only to MIT. Here’s the breakdown:
Friday, Jan 22:
Beginning at 4pm, the men took on Boston College (BC) in their first match up of the season. Though the bottom of the ladder struggled a bit, NU’s top 6 players were able to post straight wins to bring the Huskies to a 6-3 victory. Check out the detailed scores here.
At 6pm, the Huskies eagerly faced Boston University (BU) for the second time this season, having fallen to the Terriers earlier in November. Seeking a swift revenge, Northeastern defeated BU 8-1 without hesitation. NU #1 Daniel Blohm also notably posted a win after falling in an extremely close 5-game match earlier in November. Check out the game details here.
Saturday, Jan 23:
The Huskies started off the day Saturday morning a bit slow at 9am, facing MIT’s varsity squash program. Although the game scores were very close, the men fell to the MIT Engineers. Notable matches were Evan Jacobson and Viraj Shah, both of whom played close competition and went down in a strong fight. More detailed game scores can be found here.
In the final match up of the weekend, the east took on the west: Northeastern played the Northwestern men in the battle of the North. The Northeastern men were able to defeat Northwestern, again with the top 6 posting swift victories. This brought the Northeastern men to a solid 6-3 win over their counterparts in the west. The men are, on an overall basis, very proud of their performance this weekend and are looking forward to closing out the season on a strong note. They are looking forward to learning their overall standing in the League within the next few weeks, and expect a strong performance at the 2016 nationals at Yale.
