The Northeastern Men’s Squash team took on Colby College Saturday evening, November 21. A top-ranked team, the Colby men gave Northeastern solid match play before defeating the Huskies 1-8. Despite missing Daniel Blohm and Greg Berson, ladder position players 1 and 3 respectively, the men still came out with a victory in the number 2 position. After moving up in the ladder due to the aforementioned absences, freshman Viraj Shah came out with a strong win against his Colby opponent. This represents Shah’s second pivotal victory in his short membership of the team, only rivaled by the 5-game match against MIT he clenched only weeks earlier. Although the Northeastern men faced stiff competition Saturday evening, the team is continuously improving; the matches making up the 1-8 loss were much better than those in previous years against Colby.
Catch the Northeastern men again in December for some great matches and team wins! In addition, keep a look out for the upcoming Catalyst Fundraiser – The Huskies need your support!
